The Lost Sculptures of Philip R. Goodwin

"Philip R. Goodwin, born in 1882, left a body of work after his death that was to earn him the accolade of outstanding wildlife artist of the turn of the century

President Teddy Roosevelt personally selected Goodwin to illustrate his majestic volume 'AFRICAN GAME TRAILS'

The immortal Jack London, too chose Goodwin to illustrate his greatest classic, 'CALL OF THE WILD.'

Widely reproduced during his lifetime and presently on display in museums and historic collections all over America, the paintings of Philip R. Goodwin are known to millions.

As a youthful student at the Rhode Island School of Design, Goodwin's enormous promise quickly earned him the title of America's premier wildlife artist.

In many of the finest museums and private collections of wildlife art, Goodwins works occupy places of honor.

The original wax figures (for these sculptures) were done by Goodwin in 1909. They were feared lost until quite recently when they were discovered in Death Valley, California. Each sculpture was cast from the original wax created by Goodwin over 70 years ago."

These handsome sculptures were made in 1979 by the Calhoun's Collector's Society.

Each sculpture is "signed" Goodwin on the base and Calhoun on the bottom.

Each comes with a white marble base with a golden nameplate. The marble bases were crafted in Italy. The sculptures are not attached to the bases, so you can pose the animal in any direction you choose.
